Atletico Madrid are looking to improve their attacking options at the end of the campaign. The Spanish club are keen on signing the likes of Marcus Rashford, Roberto Firmino and Leandro Trossard.
All three footballers will be out of the deal next summer, and it looks like the Argentine coach is looking to snap up a few bargains to add more depth and quality to his front line.
Brazil international is in his twilight years, but the striker is an exceptional option to have. His footballing intelligence, work ethic and versatility are second to none and he could prove to be an asset for the Spanish club.
Firmino is much more than just a goal scorer and will improve Diego Simeone’s side creatively. The Reds decided to part with Mane in the summer, and given Roberto’s decline, it will not be surprising if Liverpool agree to let the striker leave on a free transfer.
The 30-year-old striker has already achieved as much as he could have with the Reds, and the chance to join Atletico Madrid could be a tempting proposition for him. South American footballers have always had an affinity for Spanish football, and Los Colchoneros could be an exciting challenge for the Brazilian striker at this stage of his career.
Furthermore, the Reds have not offered the South American centre-forward a contract extension yet, which might suggest that his long-term future is not a top priority for Liverpool.
