Board to get £200,000-a-week deal done with Arsenal looking to seal £40M move

Danny Murphy has sent a clear message to the Newcastle board about Bruno Guimaraes amidst the latest Arsenal speculation.

Guimares joined Newcastle in January from Lyon for £40million and signed a contract that runs until 2026 – and he has developed into one of the most important players at the club right now

He has been so impressive at the Toon since his move though that It is believed Newcastle have offered Guimaraes a huge pay hike that would take him to around £200,000-a-week and extend his deal by two more years.

Rumours have been circulating in the media over the past few days that some Premier League rivals are eyeing up a possible move for the man – and Spanish giants Real Madrid have also been keeping a close eye

But amidst all the speculation Murphy has urged the Saudi-backed club to do just that, telling talkSPORT: ‘Bruno Guimaraes, what a player. Honestly. Nail him down [to a new contract].

‘He’s got everything. He’s really, really tenacious, he’s clever on the ball in brave areas, he can see a pass and he can score.

‘The only thing with him when you look at how you’re going to set up is whether you play him in the deeper role to get you playing, or do you let him have more licence because he can score a goal.

‘It’s a great dilemma to have, but he has been their number one signing.

‘There have been other good performances and good signings, but he has been their main man.’
